§ 7.1. Creation of board; powers; meetings; variances.

There shall be a board of adjustment, the membership, terms of office, and rights and duties of which shall be as provided in R.S. 33:4727, as amended. The board shall adopt rules in accordance with the provisions of this section. Meetings for the board shall be held at the call of the chairman and at such times as the board may determine. All meetings shall be open to the public and preceded by due advertisement.

The board shall further ensure that a printed notice in bold type shall be posted for not less than ten consecutive days prior to the hearing on a proposed variance. The signs shall be not less than 1½ square feet in area, prepared, furnished and placed by the building official on each block of each street adjoining the property involved in the variance request. Said signs shall contain an accurate description of the requested variance and also the time and place of the public hearing.
