§ 14-21. Code adopted.

  • (a)

    There is hereby adopted a fire code for the city to provide the city with rules and regulations to improve the public safety by promoting the control of fire hazards; regulating the installation, use and maintenance of equipment; regulating the use of structures, premises and open areas; providing for the abatement of fire hazards; establishing the responsibilities and the procedures for code enforcement; and setting forth the standards for compliance and achievement of these objectives.

    (b)

    This code shall be known as the city fire code. This code adopts the 2006 edition of the NFPA 1 and the 2006 edition of the NFPA 101, together with all annexes thereto and as they may be amended from time to time, as published by the National Fire Protection Association. Excepted from this adoption are NFPA 101, chapter 13, sections 13.3.5.1, 13.3.5.2, 13.3.5.3, 13.3.5.4 and chapter 24, sections 24.3.5, 24.3.5.1, 24.3.5.2. The fire prevention bureau shall maintain a current edition of the city fire code.
